Coordinates are block coordinates. Results are displayed as chunk coordinates. Search area is limited to 1,000,000 chunks per search.

Chunks vs. Blocks

Minecraft chunks are 16×16 blocks. A chunk position (chunk X / chunk Z) is simply its block coordinate divided by 16 and rounded down — for example, blocks X 160–175 all belong to chunk X 10, and blocks X -16–-1 belong to chunk X -1. This tool searches the block range you enter and reports the matching chunk coordinates together with each chunk's exact block range.

What Is a Slime Chunk?

In Minecraft Java Edition, roughly one in ten chunks is a slime chunk — a chunk where slimes can spawn underground below Y=40 regardless of light level. Which chunks are slime chunks is determined entirely by the world seed, so the same seed always produces the same slime chunks. Finding them is the first step to building a slime farm for slimeballs and sticky pistons.

How to Find Slime Chunks

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a slime chunk?

A chunk (16×16 blocks) where slimes can spawn underground below Y=40 regardless of light level. About 10% of all chunks are slime chunks, and which ones they are depends only on your world seed.

Does the slime chunk algorithm depend on the Minecraft Java version?

No. Slime chunk generation has been stable across Java Edition versions, so the same seed gives the same slime chunks on any supported version.

Does this tool work with Bedrock Edition?

No. This tool is for Minecraft Java Edition. Bedrock Edition uses a different slime chunk mechanism.

Do I need to upload my world?

No. You only need your world seed, which you can see in-game with the /seed command.

Does the tool send my seed to a server?

No. The calculation runs locally in your browser. Your seed is not uploaded to a server.

How large is a Minecraft chunk?

A chunk is a 16×16 block column spanning the full world height.
